My Soul, Be Thou Still

My soul, be thou still, thou art in the hands of thy Covenant God. Thou mightest well be
overwhelmed; but "all things" and this thing which is now
disquieting thee, Trust thy God - He will not deceive thee; thy interests are with Him in safe custody. When sight says, "All
things are against me", let faith rebuke the hasty conclusion and
say, How seldom can we see "all things" so working for our good. Oh! For faith to say I
know that Thy judgements are good, How can I doubt the
wisdom and faithfulness and love of the most mysterious earthly
dealing, He is faithful that
promised. Thy heavenly Father loves thee too much and too tenderly to bestow upon you that which you cannot bear. Is it loss of health, or loss of wealth, or loss of beloved friends? "Be still and know that I am God" Often through aching
hearts we are forced to exclaim, "Thy judgements are a great deep!" Oh my soul! The reed is bruised; but He will not pluck it up by the roots. He will not - cannot give thee up. Weary and faint one! May this be your
resolve:
"And we know that
all things work together for good to them that love God,
